Sure, we all slack off from time to time. Stress from either work or school can eat you up: admit it, you just want to simply sleep or hang out with everything that’s going on!
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. These anime characters are known to be really lazy (the catch is, most of these lazy characters are actually winners in their own ways!):
Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)
Spike may very well be the best definition of what a slacker is. If he’s not chasing bounties, this ex-mafia would prefer hanging out in the Bebop’s lounge, either chowing down on food (if they have the budget to buy, that is!), smoke, or simply sleep. But don’t let this slacker fool you: Spike’s a legitimate force to be reckoned with, when the going gets tough!
Nobita Nobisuke (Doraemon)
Ah, what’s to say about this young boy? Nobita, who fairly relies on Doraemon’s gadget for virtually everything, would simply want everything handed over to him on a silver platter! From slacking off at school to simply sleeping at home, it does come as no surprise at all that a lot of bad things happen to this young kid!
The silver lining that Nobita’s laziness may probably be the lessons viewers get from him – either from the abuse of Doraemon’s gadgets or the karmic response he gets from slacking, kids (and adults!) get to learn some valuable lessons on why everyone ought to work and step up when it’s needed!
Shikamaru Nara (Naruto)
Such a hassle! This is what the legendary and smart ninja, Shikamaru, would often say! Sure, he may be considered as the best tactician in the Naruto universe, and his skills may be really excellent especially when he’s pushed into a corner, but this ninja would very well choose the easiest way out if it’s possible.
Although he’s lazy, Shikamura’s intelligence and keen observation skills are a winner for Konoha – countless battles may have been lost, if not for this ninja’s quick thinking!
Shoto Aizawa (My Hero Academia)
As a teacher, Aizawa’s first impression may be really disappointing. He’d rather sleep and assign tasks to students! In fact, a sleeping bag seems to be his favorite accessory, and his very appearance seems to be so really dull! But don’t judge a book by its cover – Aizawa may be lazy, but his quirk and his eccentric teaching may very well be the keys to create great heroes!
For a volleyball player, it does seem surprising that Kenma is lazy! After all, fast reflexes and strength are needed in this sport! But what he lacks in strength, he makes up in technique and strategy. Kenma is a good example of a being who accomplished great things with the least amount of effort! And for that very trait, he does contribute greatly in making his team win.
The ex Marine admiral (popularly known as Aokiji), Kuzan is mainly recognized as someone in a position of power who’d rather just sleep everything off. In fact, and even with his awesome Devil Fruit ice powers, Kuzan would simply choose the way of less effort. Of course, when it’s needed, Kuzan can strongly shove off any force thrown at him – it does make you think why this laid back yet powerful person would align with a pirate such as Blackbeard!
Here’s one lazy yet really happy anime character! Snorlax, a really strong Pokemon, can virtually smash through almost any sort of obstacle or enemy. It’s just that he’s really lazy and would actually choose to sleep (even in unlikely places!). He may be lazy, but at least he’s really cute!
Ikta may be considered trash (he’s not good at fighting, isn’t really great in bridging communications, and is really lazy!). But what he lacks in virtually almost any significant aspect he makes up when it comes to war – he has excellent tactician skills! He isn’t called the Invincible Lazy General for no reason at all, with his excellent tactics able to turn the tide!
Probably one of the strongest samurai, Gintoki’s main flaw is that he’s also the laziest person in his universe (it can actually be argued that he’s the laziest anime character of all time as well!)!
Everything about this person is lazy. How he looks is lazy. How he expresses himself is lazy. Even how he lives is pure laziness. He even breaks the 4th wall at times to explain just how lazy he is!
He even skipped his own training arc! But no matter how much of a slacker he is, Gintoki beats all odds with his sheer power and will. He is that powerful, after all!
The title itself states that the protagonist is lazy! Tanaka is so lazy that he virtually does nothing at all. If something needs to be done, his friend Oota will get it done for him. In fact, Tanaka probably wouldn’t survive without Oota! But that’s just how great this series is. You just need to watch and experience the hijinx Tanaka gets into with his listless personality!
Another athlete ends up in this list! But what Kenma from Haikyuu lacks, Murasakibara has in excess instead! Physically gifted, this 6’10 basketball player has everything needed to make a shot.
He’s so good at playing the game that he’ll get bored easily with it at times! Another lazy factor Murasakibara has is that he doesn’t seem to want to think at all. He’d rather let his teammates come up with the plan and rely on his own in making a basket!
The characters mentioned above are some of the laziest you’ll see in anime. Sure, they may be irritating, but most of them have the skills to back them up when they most need it. For others, being a slacker doesn’t really work!
