Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the latest (and hottest) shounen anime series to amaze viewers from all over the world! From the excellent story to the intriguing lore and fight mechanics (and of course, the very good art style and animation!), this is one outstanding show that is bound to be a classic soon.
Let us put the spotlight on one of the iconic characters of this series – Satoru Gojo, and why he is just so powerful in this universe (and maybe, even on other shows, if a crossover is possible!).
Let us start with the basics – Satoru Gojo definitely has an eye-catching design! Technically a bishonen (with some panels from the manga showcasing this character’s appeal towards the opposite sex), Satoru also has a distinct look that does make him standout from all sorts of shonen shows: his eyes and the way he tends to cover them up!
From a blatant black cloth covering his eyes to the use of dark shades, this excellent Tokyo Jujutsu High teacher does have his reasons why he needs to cover his eyes (it’s a spoiler for anime viewers – read the manga to find out more!).
It is readily apparent in the show, but Satoru Goju is definitely more than meets the eye. Being a teacher at the Jujutsu High Tokyo branch proves that this sorcerer has the means to be on the top. But to be respected by even both students and teachers from other schools does show that Satoru’s fame and exploits are known far and wide.
Even demons highly respect him, considering him a big threat that they would go the distance of planning how to take him down. Heck, in the show, they even tried their best to come up with a special veil to take him out of a fight! No matter what it is, there really is something about Satoru that makes him respected by allies and feared by enemies.
Can Solo Missions
Although not readily seen on the show, it has always been implied that Satoru has always been called on extreme missions by himself. From overseas missions to tackling powerful demons in Japan, this overpowered sorcerer can definitely take on any threat by himself.
In fact, this superior power level of his makes him an anomaly in this universe – even demonic teams find it really hard to take him head on (they would rather run away instead!).
He may be goofy at times, but Satoru does seem to have some excellent planning – both for battle and for a long-term viewpoint on how sorcerers should live in their world. Aside from being feared by demons, Satoru’s presence also tips the scale among senior sorcerers.
In fact, it has been implied that Satoru’s presence in the show is one of the reasons why Yuji Itadori (currently housing Sukuna within) can’t be easily executed as a vessel of a major sorcerer threat!
Additionally, this Satoru’s intelligence allows him to develop his students in a unique yet efficient manner: from teaching Yuji how to properly harness his cursed energy (through watching movies, among all things!), from having one-on-one training sessions with Megumi, and even calling out on powerful sorcerers, such as Kento Nanami, to accompany his students in special missions, this is one excellent sorcerer that has a great balance of both power and wits!
Best demonstrated during Satoru’s battle with special grade demon, Jogo, Satoru’s unique Limitless technique virtually makes him untouchable. This infinite barrier of his allows him to control what or who can touch him, making him a pest to directly hit in fights. Combined with his excellent speed and physical prowess, battling Satoru is technically a loss for anyone unlucky to face him!
This unique technique is essentially a stronger version of the Infinity technique mentioned earlier. By allowing negative energy in, Blue essentially creates a vacuum that sucks anything in. Used strategically in combat, Blue is sort of like an implosion that draws Satoru’s targets to a space or a situation he can best exploit.
This technique is the opposite effect of Blue. Instead of pulling energy in, Red expels force out. This repelling force is powerful enough to tear almost anything apart, with the power output actually twice as much as what occurs in Blue.
A Gojo family secret, Purple is the combination of Blue and Red. This monstrous technique is actually a singularity force that erases all forms of matter it hits.
Considered to be trump cards in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, characters lucky enough to have a Domain Expansion move can more or less turn the tides of any battle. Satoru’s own Domain Expansion, dubbed as Unlimited Void, is a terrible force to deal with.
Enemies unlucky to find themselves in this space are forced information in an infinite manner, rendering them null and useless. This Domain Expansion is so powerful, that even at 0.2 seconds, Satoru can inflict a lifetime of damage against his foes.
As mentioned above, Satoru’s intelligence allows him to develop his students. But more than making them the best sorcerers in the world, this human approach to connect to young sorcerers just shows how responsible he is with his powers.
With powerful techniques and techniques, he can easily take over schools and demons alike. But for some reason, he’d choose to teach and instill values on young students, further developing them to actually protect the weak. Perhaps this connection makes him the strongest in the Jujutsu Kaisen world!
Respected among all over in the sorcerer world and even feared by both special grade demons and powerful sorcerers, Satoru Goju is a force to be reckoned with. But more than his powerful techniques and fighting prowess, Satoru’s keen wits and fine moral compass makes him a sorcerer with a conscience – a powerful reason to like this character, indeed!
