One of the most exciting moments one can encounter when watching Anime are the soundtracks. There’s something really amazing on how music expresses scenes and characters in these shows!
And an even better way to see how music transforms different series would be the musicians. As characters that can express themselves through song, there’s something truly memorable with these musicians! Let us find out some of the best Anime musician characters to be shown on screen!
Brook (One Piece)
As the Straw Hat Pirate’s musician, Brook has proved to be an essential crew member! Not only does he bring some amazing tunes to boost the morale of Luffy and the gang, but Brook is also an expert fighter that can match up even against some of the best in the epic One Piece world.
Light as a feather because of his skeletal frame, yet packing a punch with his Gentle Blade style, Brooks swordsmanship is a well-respected asset, that which even fellow crew member (and arguably one of the best swordsmen in Anime history) Zoro acknowledges.
But of course, his music rocks the seas, in which he’s had fans all over the world – and he does win a lot of followers, with his music able to captivate even the largest of creatures!
Nana Osaki (Nana)
Punk rules with the Black Stone’s charismatic and edgy vocalist, Nana Osaki. A beautiful woman with an amazing personality to boot (she looks tough, but is really gentle and a true friend among those she is close to), Nana is a personification of the idea of to never judge a book by its cover.
Having a rough past, she rose above all sorts of troubles to pursue and live her dream of being a singer. Nana’s story in this amazing story may bring you to tears – you just need to check it out yourself!
Ibuki Mioda (Danganronpa)
Danganronpa has its fair share of quirky characters. But one standout, and of course, excellent musician, is no other than Ibuki Mioda. Dubbed as the Ultimate Musician, Ibuki is unfortunately one of the participants of Hope Peak’s Academy’s Killing School Trip. Eccentric and full of energy, her talent in music is apparent when she composed a song that made it big in Japan.
Verging on all sorts of genres, she opted to go the heavy metal route instead. What makes her differ from other musicians is her skill of playing different musical instruments simultaneously – she’s a one-woman band!
Mima Kirigoe (Perfect Blue)
Even in some of the best Anime thrillers can one find an amazing musician. Mima Kirigoe, a rising star in the pop music world, decided to change her career path towards being an actress. There’s nothing wrong about this, anyway, considering that this is a common decision among young pop singers.
Except, Mima has this one weird fan who couldn’t accept this change! A classic from the legendary Satoshi Kon, do yourself a favor and watch what happens to Mima in Perfect Blue!
Pop music can save the universe! And this has been proven time and again in the amazing mecha Anime series, Macross. But the original songstress that proved music – and love – can transcend cosmic barriers is no other than the amazing Lynn Minmay! Beaming with positivity, the once waitress for the Chinese restaurant onboard the SDF Macross discovered fame and fortune when she won the very first Miss Macross.
But more than touching the hearts and boosting the morale of the ship’s passengers, Lynn Minmay’s voice proved to be the key in stopping the way – her songs reminded the alien invaders of protoculture! Additionally, even if the first Macross movie was released sometime in the 80’s, Lynn Minmay’s song, Do You Remember Love, is still one of the most memorable songs that is associated with mecha!
Pop saved the Macross, and Oji Tanaka also proved that hard rock can save outer space! This quirky late 90’s series proves to be a fun and wild ride when an intergalactic army finds out that the music of a certain washed-up rocker can power up an amazing ray gun!
Oji Tanaka, a simple salaryman trying his best to support his small family, encountered something different from his usual and boring life. A new employee in his office seems to be a sexy and alluring vixen.
And what makes this even more intriguing is that this woman seems to like him! But more than the sexual tension brewing, the woman, Layla Yuki, is actually an alien with the intent of getting Oji to play his legendary guitar skills for them! Oji apparently isn’t a nobody – he used to be vocalist and lead guitarist, Gabriel, of the epic rock band, Black Heaven! A treat for the ears – watch this quirky series now!
Known to be one of the best jinchūrikis in the Naruto world, Killer B’s offbeat and friendly personality extends way past with the power he beholds – all this homie wants to do is not fight at all; he wants to rap! His innate skill in fighting is known in Kumogakure, being one of the best fighters in the village even at an early age.
Having been chosen to be a jinchūriki, B did face discrimination and hardships, similar to how other legendary jinchūrikis did, like Gaara and Naruto. But B faced everything head on and with a smile, even befriending the Eight-Tails beast, Gyuki! This fist-bumping rapper sure knows his beats!
Irony plays a big part in this amazing and funny series! Souichi Negishi, a talented musician, wants to make it big in the industry. This young artist aims to play calm and relaxing music – unfortunately, no one seems to be in that genre! Souichi does have a job that still makes use of his musical prowess – except, he really isn’t proud of it.
As Johannes Krauser II of the Visual Death Metal band, Detroit Metal City (DMC), Souichi transforms into a death metal god! And how amazing it is, with DMC making the charts go wild! Watch this wonderful and really funny show today!
